“Your daily life is your temple and your religion. When you enter into it take with you your all.”~Kahlil Gibran
Weary traveller:“Why in the name of heaven did they build the railway station three kilometres away from the village?”
Helpful porter: “They must have thought it would be a good idea to have it near the trains, sir.”
“An ultra-modern station three kilometres away from the track
is as much an absurdity as a
much frequented temple three
centimetres away from life.”
~Anthony de Mello
“The moment I have realized God sitting in the temple of every human body, the moment I stand in reverence before every human being and see God in him - that moment I am free from bondage, everything that binds vanishes, and I am free.” ~Swami Vivekananda
“This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.”~Dalai Lama
“Temples and churches have become social centers. They have lost their original purpose because the minds of the people are more attracted to worldly things than to prayer. The lips repeat the prayer mechanically like a phonograph record, but the mind wanders to other places.”
― Swami Satchidananda, Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
P.S: Here is another interesting point of view……….
No matter which temple we choose to visit………how far we travel to get there…..no matter where we go…….we have return home .……to ourselves.
Temples being centres of high energy ……are wonderful to visit joyously…not with a mind full of chatter and a heart constricted with fear and anxiety.
What if,we could choose to be in the temples within ourselves…mindfully….. at all times?????
Namaste,
Bhagya
