"Use what talents you possess:
the woods would be very silent
if no birds sang there
except those that sang best."
~Henry Van Dyke

 Laughter Is A Gift

A thirty-eight-year old scrub-woman would go to the movies and sigh."If only I had her looks."
She would listen to a singer and moan,
"If only I had her voice."
Then one day someone gave her a copy of the book The Magic of Believing.
She stopped comparing herself with actresses and singers.
She stopped crying about what she didn’t have and started concentrating on what she did have.
She took inventory of herself and remembered that in high school she had a reputation for being the funniest girl around.
She began to turn her liabilities into assets.
A few years ago Phyllis Diller made over one million dollars in a single year.
She wasn’t good-looking and she had a scratchy voice, but she could make people laugh.

Phyllis, now in her nineties, lives in Lima, Ohio, United States. She spends much of her time
painting, cooking, and gardening.
She still plays in her private life, however, and owns a custom-made harpsichord.
P.S:
What we choose to believe does create our reality.Of the many life changing books I have come across, 'The Magic of  Believing,' by Claude M Bristol is on top of the list.
I am not surprised at the way it inspired Phyllis......and I am grateful,I read the book when I did.....I keep going back to it often.
The joy in choosing be oneself....
is like no other.....it leaves no room for
comparison with anyone else.
It allows one to love and  accept oneself unconditionally....which is when magic and miracles happen........ practically all the time.
Namaste,
Bhagya
